The performance titled “Cave" is an interactive performance using the metaphor of the cave with the London underground. The cave exhibits primitive symbolism that has universal resonance: a place in which Mohammed was enlightened, a place in which Plato distinguished between illusion and reality and a place from which we all came from – the womb.

Silver hearts are made at a school desk- above the desk reports of the London bombings.  The hearts will be then taken downstairs, into the cave, where they are placed in a rucksack (the bomb), each heart representing one persons compassion. Inside the rucksack is reportage- echoing the reportage of the bombings displayed above the desk. As the hearts are put in they replace the negative reportage, which is then burnt-. Then using the ash I write the words “I know not how to grieve”, paraphrasing a statement by one of the mothers of the bombers.
