Memorial to the loss of innocence refers to childhood tragedy. Using stories from news we are drawn into the childhood experience. At first we see the desk and chairs- then the babies shoes; all alluring images that provoke our paternal instincts and our desire to protect. We then are presented with the open desk- a colt 45 reproduction gun and in the compartment next to it, a pool of blood. The intensity of this contrast, with its attraction and repulsion is designed to provoke a questioning. Both to our reaction to the imagery and the way in which events are reported in the media. |
